The Cordish Companies projects in Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh are still taking shape but like all Live! properties, the way to patrons’ hearts at both venues is lined with food venues, from national to local faves.

The coming casinos recently announced some of the restaurants they’ll be featuring, including several from Food Network star Guy Fieri.

The mini casino in Western PA should open around Thanksgiving. The full-blown casino in the stadium district of Philly won’t open until early 2021. But Live! has launched an online casino in PA already.

Guy Fieri a presence at both Live! Casinos in PA

While time and distance separate the two brick-and-mortar properties at either end of PA, it should be easy to tell they are both Cordish-developed Live! Casino properties by taste alone.

As Rob Norton,President of Cordish Gaming Group, explained:

“Our goal from the onset is always to create a world-class destination that provides a variety of premier dining and entertainment options. We spend a great deal of time curating a unique tenant mix that features diverse offerings for all our guests. Whether they are coming to our properties to gamble or to dine, we want our guests to have a first-class experience every time they visit.”

For instance, Fieri will be a part of both properties.

Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar will open at Live! Casino Pittsburgh, and he’ll also be in Philly with two joints, one for tacos, another doing burgers.

The Eastern PA locations will be known at the 10th Street Market in Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, apparently a play on the 9th Street Market, a longstanding gathering of vendors in South Philly.

Philly faves are also on the menu

At 10th Street, there will also be local food favorites near and dear to Philly’s palate. Such as:

  • Lorenzo and Sons Pizza, a South Philadelphia staple since 1970 and one of the 101 best pizzas in America as rated by The Daily Meal.
  • Sang Kee Noodle Bar & Kitchen is a collaboration between the landmark Chinatown restaurant owners, Sang Kee Peking Duck House, and Strother Enterprises. The traditional noodle bar will feature classic noodles and dim sum selections, along with Asian favorites.
  • Termini Brothers, a beloved South Philadelphia bakery with a 99-year history, will serve cannolis, cookies, and cakes.

There is also a bar open 24/7.

Breaking bread builds community

Joe Billhimer, Executive Vice President of Cordish Gaming Group, explained Cordish’s goals:

“Our goals were to become an active member of this community, to be a good neighbor, and to uplift the businesses in this community. The opportunity to partner with these Philadelphia institutions was an opportunity we could not pass up. We are proud that our family-owned business can partner with these three iconic family-owned businesses.”

“Guy is a first-class restaurateur and brings an exciting level of energy to everything he does. Our focus from the onset has been to create a world-class destination with diverse offerings for our guests. We have taken great care to curate a tenant mix that creates a variety of local, regional, and national brands.”

Philly already knows Crdish in some measure. They are already a part of Xfinity Live! near the stadiums. And the company built the outlets now known as Tanger in nearby Atlantic City.

The casino is ready for its close up. The doors are almost ready to open. And in just a few more weeks, Live! Casino Pittsburgh will soon go, well, live.

Live! Casino Pittsburgh announced Monday that its new $150 million facility at the Westmoreland Mall just east of Pittsburgh will officially open for business on November 24. The casino plans to host some charity and invitation-only events Nov. 14 and 15 to benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank and Sage’s Army.

Dining

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 17. And then pending final approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming and Control Board, Live! Casino Pittsburgh will open to the general public at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, just a couple days before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Live! Casino General Manager Sean Sullivan‘s excitement was evident in his announcement:

“Live! Casino is the latest world-class venue to be opened by The Cordish Companies. It’s going to up the ante on entertainment for everyone in the Greater Pittsburgh region. Whether you want to gamble, dine on first-class food, or experience the ultimate in sports viewing and sportsbook action, Live! Casino has you covered.”

Live! Casino Pittsburgh will feature two levels of entertainment with casino gaming located on the first floor, which will include 750 of new state-of-the-art slots and approximately 30 live-action table games. The second floor will feature Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar and a portion of Sports & Social Steel City.

The Sports & Social Steel City venue will have elements on both levels of the Live! property and will feature the region’s first FanDuel-branded sportsbook. Visitors can expect impressive AV offerings, including a giant 45-foot LED video screen that will allow viewers to watch as many as 16 different games at once.

Pennsylvana’s only other FanDuel Sportsbook is located at the Valley Forge Casino Resort just west of Philadelphia. FanDuel also operates a highly successful sportsbook at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Live! online casino already up, Live! Philly to follow

The Cordish Companies are experienced operators in the sports and entertainment industry. The brand has similar properties near the stadiums of the Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.

The Westmoreland County Live! location will open its doors in the shadows of sports-crazed Pittsburgh, about 30 minutes away from the home sites of the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.

The opening of Cordish Companies’ first retail property in PA follows the debut of their online gaming app. PlayLive! online casino debuted in Pennsylvania in mid-August. On the retail front, Cordish plans to also open Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, a $700 million gaming facility in the Stadium Park metro district, in 2021.

Live! Casino Pittsburgh will “Play It Safe” with health protocols

Live! Casino Pittsburgh has launched a “Play It Safe” plan to ensure customers are maintaining proper health and safety standards when playing at the new facility.

The plan includes mask requirements, temperature checks, social distance protocols, and continuous cleaning of high-traffic areas, slots machines and table game equipment. Signage will be located throughout the facility to further emphasize the safety requirements.

Live! economic impact will be an asset for the region

From an economic standpoint, Live! Casino Pittsburgh is projected to provide $188 million in annual economic impact, along with $47.5 million in tax revenues annually for the region. Furthermore, the facility will create more than 500 permanent new jobs for local and regional residents, some of which are still available.

Given the tough economic times that we’re in, all those numbers are a tremendous asset for the area.

And it’s perhaps no surprise Live! Casino GM Sullivan is so excited to get things started.

Westmoreland Casino Opening

“This will be a thrilling venue from the moment we open our doors,” he said.
